As a person that has lived through the 90s in Slovakia I must say there was no such thing as Mr Havel "being misunderstood".

Yes his popularity was somewhat less than in Czech Republic, however the major force behind it was that no matter how fantastic an author and intellectual Mr Havel was, he was not an experienced politician to be the head of the state at the time for a new country that needed a strong leader to go through the major changes!

This was a disaster in the 90s during Mr Havel's reign, yes he criticized it but was he capable of stopping it as a head of the state?

) Mr Havel was and will remain a respected personality in Slovakian minds and no useless politician as Vladimir Meciar who has managed to split already small state (without having a Referendum) will ever diminish that....
